Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the possibility of producing 186,188Re from osmium targets using electron accelerators. The activity yields of 186,188Re were determined experimentally for bremsstrahlung with an endpoint energy of 55 MeV. The amount of radioactive impurities associated with the 186,188Re produced was estimated using experimental results and the TALYS1.96 code. The article discusses the conditions required to achieve a minimum level of rhenium by-product isotopes to meet the expected clinical requirements.
