Abstract
This article describes the specific features of auditory dysfunction of demyelinating origin identified through comprehensive audiological examination. Characteristic patterns of psychoacoustic, electroacoustic, and electrophysiological methods were delineated. Seventy-two patients with confirmed multiple sclerosis were examined, of whom 38 (53%) reported auditory complaints. Pathological changes in auditory function were detected irrespective of the presence of auditory complaints. A diagnostic algorithm for demyelinating lesions of the auditory analyzer was developed.
