Abstract
The paper studies a self-consistent photocathode charge carrier dynamics in radiofrequency photoelectron guns using a dedicated numerical code, PhDyn. The main possibilities of the code, its limitations with respect to the physics underneath, along with the assumptions being made are discussed thoroughly. Using this code, the photocurrent is obtained for different specific initiating laser pulses (of different profiles and energies). We obtain characteristic emission curves, which are of qualitative agreement with ones known from experiments and literature. The possible directions to expand the approach are briefly discussed.
