An electron-positron (or a muon) collider is crucial for particle physics with its clean collision environment, reduced background interactions, precise energy, and polarization control. Complementing hadronic colliders, electron-positron colliders offer a controlled setting for high-accuracy investigations of fundamental physics phenomena. In fact, beyond the LHC, such a collider is vital for studying the Higgs boson and Electroweak Symmetry Breaking mechanism, conducting precision tests of the Standard Model, as well as exploring new dynamics. Leptonic colliders, especially electron-positron colliders, have been under consideration for decades, and a large amount of literature is available in the accelerator and detector sector, as well as physics possibilities. However, with the LHC very successfully delivering detailed information on many aspects of the fundamental interactions, it is desirable to reassess the physics capabilities of a high energy lepton collider. While such attempts are available in the literature, this Volume of EPJST would endeavor to make a comprehensive compilation of the advantages of lepton colliders in the light of the LHC results.
In this special issue, we intend to make a comprehensive compilation of the advantages of lepton colliders in the light of LHC results and the projections for its High Luminosity version through a set of review-style articles on the following topics (but not limited to these):
- Higgs coupling measurements
- Top quark Physics
- Electroweak Precision Measurements
- Gauge boson self-interactions
- Dark matter physics with electron-positron collider
- Cosmology and astroparticle physics
- Rare processes: Advantages of electron-positron colliders
- Exploiting polarization of the beams (Polarimetry and precision measurements)
- Physics possibilities with muon collider
- Spin correlations, entanglements, and Bell’s inequality
- Light and heavy flavor tagging (with and without Machine Learning algorithms)
The guest editors would like to invite review-styled articles cordially on the listed and related topics. The articles may be (i) minireviews (10-15 pages) or (ii) tutorial reviews (15+ pages).
All the articles should be submitted to the Editorial Office of EPJ ST via the online submission system, clearly indicating the special issue on “Benchmarking Physics at Future Lepton Colliders in the Light of the LHC”.
More detailed descriptions of each paper type can be found in the Submission Guidelines. Manuscripts should be prepared using the latex template (preferably a single-column layout), which can be downloaded here.
