Scope: High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) is an emerging interdisciplinary field that studies the properties and motion laws of matter in extreme states with energy densities greater than 1011 J/m3. Its research is of great significance for inertial confinement fusion, accelerator physics, laboratory astrophysics, extremely strong field physics, national defense, and so on. With the rapid advancement of high-energy and high-power laser technology, currently operating laser devices can output nanosecond laser pulses with a maximum energy of 105 joules and femtosecond laser pulses with a peak power of 1016 W (power density of 1023 W/cm2). This provides an unprecedented and important experimental means for people to conduct autonomous and controllable research on high-energy density physics under laboratory conditions.
We invite researchers and experts in the field to contribute their original and innovative research papers, reviews, and perspectives on the following topics:
- Laser driven particle acceleration and new radiation sources
- Experimental methods and technologies for ultra strong lasers
- Inertial confinement fusion physics and material properties under high energy density
- Extreme field physics
- Laboratory astrophysics
- Laser nuclear physics
Articles should be submitted to the Editorial Office of EPJ ST via the submission system, and should be clearly identified as intended for the topical issue “Laser Induced High Energy Density Physics”.
