In this work, the higher-order localized waves for a coupled Hirota system are analytically investigated, providing a way to describe the wave propagation of two ultrashort optical fields in a birefringent fiber. On the basis of the seed solutions and Lax pair, Nth-order localized wave solutions on the plane backgrounds are derived. The interaction between a third-order rogue wave and three dark-bright solitons or three Akhmediev breathers are graphically analyzed via numerical simulation. The results enrich what is known about the dynamical structures of coupled nonlinear systems.
