Three-dimensional laser-induced thermal and stress analyses in diamond/ZnSe system

Thermal and stress responses of diamond/ZnSe system working as a IR window illuminated by a continue-wave (CW) laser have been investigated by means of finite element method (FEM). We find that the temperature and stress fields have a significant dependence on thickness of the diamond coating. If the increase of the diamond thickness, the laser-induced steady state temperature increases dramatically due to more laser power absorbed, which induces high stress in the interface between diamond and ZnSe. We further calculate the variation of the temperature and stress fields with changing the structural parameters in diamond/ZnSe system.
