Femtosecond pump-probe laser technique has been applied for the diagnostics of a film adhesion to a substrate. A low frequency motion additional to acoustic vibrational modes of the film has been detected and related to film oscillation as a lumped mass element at a weak adhesion bond. The measurements of this low-frequency provide information on the strength of the interface. Long life time of the observed oscillation has remained unexplained.
