A two-parameter model for chirping the frequency of a plane-wave laser pulse is introduced using a binomial expansion. Acceleration of single electrons, through interaction with the plane-wave binomially chirped laser pulse, is investigated by solving the relativistic equations of motion, analytically and numerically. Multi-GeV energy gains are reported from interaction with 10 W/cm
peak-intensity chirped pulses.
