Askaryan and geomagnetic radiation from particle cascades

In this work, a brief overview of the Askaryan and geomagnetic radio emission mechanisms from cosmic-ray or neutrino-induced particle cascades is presented. Starting from the Liénard–Wiechert potentials, we provide an intuitive derivation of both mechanisms starting from the macroscopic charge and current distributions and discuss the obtained expressions in the point-like approximation.
